A blog is not a website and a website is not a blog. Each has a different purpose. But both can be used to bring traffic to you online business. And you want traffic. Anybody in business wants traffic to their business. Without traffic business dry up. So which is better for traffic, a static website or a blog?
Web log is the term that now people simply call a blog. Newsletters via snail mail were the precursors to today's blogs. You might have received or even sent out yourself holiday newsletters to friends and family updating them on your life and events. Now people have blogs to keep friends and relatives up to date, and anyone who wants to read the blog.
People also use blogs to promote their online business. Some think it is a better way to get traffic to their online business. If you have an online business like a tropical fish aquarium business you can use a blog to increase sales. You can write articles on filters, new fish food, or aquarium decorations.
In your articles on your blog you place a link to your aquarium website. You announce to your regular readership you have a new article on your blog about let us say aquarium filters. You send this announcement by email. People read the article and want to find out more so they go to your website where you are selling filters. So you want to write articles about products you have for sale on your website. You do not have to be so upfront as that but you get the picture.
Write articles on your blog related to the products you sell on your website. You this together in order to build traffic. Do not get caught up on which is better a blog or website. Use them together. The experienced online marketers know the power of giving people what they want. Give the blog to those who favor blogs. Give the website to those who like websites.
Websites are where people buy. So you want to get them there eventually. Blogs are where people do not feel pressured to buy, but you want to use them to ease people over to your website where they can buy if they want to. If on your blog you have given them content they cannot get anywhere else you are building credibility and loyalty.
I like websites over blogs because I am more used to reading a website than a blog. Or should I say, I know that I have to read a blog whereas a website I can merely survey if I want to and still get a feel for the website.
But others like to spend time reading online opinions and thoughts. And if your blog convinces people they need to visit your website and buy from you then your blog has done its job. So Which is Better For Traffic, a Static Website Or a Blog? The answer is both working together. So build your website and get a blog to support it. Give eveyone what they want and then sell them some great products.
