Registry Corruption For Windows XP (Jack Boyd)
Mar 10, 2010
Registry corruption can be very annoying and very painful. Registry corruption can look like Spyware, but it can be worse. It can not only make your computer run slow, but also make your computer stop operating altogether. Spyware is very bad, but a simple scan from good software can fix that up. With the registry problems, it can be more serious then annoying pop ups.
Registry Corruption is probably/ most likely the reason why your computer keeps crashing on you. Although it's annoying and very disturbing, the only option to stop it is a registry cleaner. It can affect all of your files, and downloading certain programs to run a scan is just as dangerous. You need to be careful and with this, I suggest you buy a registry cleaner. Don't be cheap and download a free one like I did, because the outcome may not be pretty. Some ways to know you are having registry errors are; blue screen of death, slow running but no viruses or Spyware and even random crashing.
Some other ways are obvious like:
Stop 0xc0000218 (0xe11a30e8, 0x00000000, 0x000000000, 0x00000000) UNKNOWN_HARD_ERROR
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM.ced
Those are some signs and messages that mean your registry is definitely and surely corrupt.
To stop registry corruption you will need to clean it up. You cannot just delete files and such to do this. I first suggest you check out microsoft.com for information on registry issues. There is a page for advanced users, and it gives them sub sections to go to and check out scans and programs so they can fix this. It is very important that you get this taken care of, or your computer will crash and never recover.
Another thing to do is to download a nice pricey software. That you can run, scan, and eliminate registry errors from your computer.
The last thing I suggest is going to http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=384102 and reading the directions. Those will help you to get rid of the corruption and get back to using the computer safely again. Now that's not guaranteed to work, because we don't know when your computer got corrupted. However there is a good chance if it's recent, those steps can fix it. The basic idea is to change your settings a little bit to fix the problems. I suggest only doing this if you have at least SOME computer knowledge.
