The XPS is a short form used for Xtreme Performance System. This is a high end line of gaming computers sold by Dell. XPS 420 Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 6GB 750GB vista, 19 inch LCD monitor tower clone computer is a perfect blend of both performance and speed.
It features similar components to the XPS 410, but it now has a different case design and new features. This is Dells media based computer featuring the Dell Accelerator (a simple and effective Video Recorder), and an LCD screen in the case, running Windows Vista Side Show. As usual with the 4XX Line of XPSs it does not allow for SLI Graphics.
Memory capacity of this system is 2GB DDR2 Non ECC SDRAM (2x1024). DDR 2 is memory technology used in electronic engineering for high bandwidth storage of the working data of a computer or other digital electronic device.
The first XPS laptop, this computer was a very heavy computer starting at 9.06 pounds without power supply (which added an additional 2.5 pounds). It was offered with either a 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 desktop processor, or the Pentium 3.4 Extreme Edition, 1920x1200 15.4 LCD, and subwoofer.
These subwoofers are integrated into the bottom of the case. Earlier models came with an ATI Mobility Radeon, and later models with the Mobility Radeon. The company offered an X Men special edition XPS gaming desktop.
This computer is based on the next generation XPS desktop. No specification on this model except that it is only available by entering the Dell X Men contest and that it sports an X Men painted case. Dells new XPS 420 desktop advertises itself as the complete solution to all of your digital media problems.
Depending on the options you select for it, it can wirelessly serve up photos, music, and high definition video over your home network, it can quickly convert large video files to smaller, iPod and Sony PSP friendly formats, it can even record and time shift HD digital cable.
If you have embraced the idea of a traditional desktop acting as the media hub for your home network, the XPS 420 has you covered. Its also a capable system for manipulating consumer level digital video. Gamers, HD DVD loyalists, and anyone not looking for a fully loaded digital media PC will find their needs better served elsewhere.
