Finding The Best Photo Printer (Mark Dunne)
Jul 22, 2009
I can honestly say that at the moment the photo printer market is absolutely flying with the amount of models and manufacturers that are producing quality products. We have top brands like Canon, Hewlett-Packard and Epson that are all producing photo-quality printers that can give you up to 8 1/2" x 11" photographs and one of the interesting things is that the pricing for these printers is quite reasonable and they work on PCs and Macintosh.
The quality of the image that the printer produces is obviously of key importance to everybody and most manufacturers recommend that you use their ink cartridges and there is photo-quality paper. I'm not really sure if this is a ploy to make you purchase from them the custody of them make more money or editor is something extra in there that they do different stuff nobody else can replicate. You can of course buy toward parity ink cartridges for most printers but you need to make sure that these are also quality because I'm sure you want the same type of quality images.
Most photo printers will come with a few different ways to connect from your computer. If you are going to purchase a new one you want to ensure it has a USB port so you can connect directly from your computer or plug in a USB Bluetooth dongle sold you can then wirelessly connect from your cell phone. Being able to print pictures directly from your cell phone is a great advantage in something that I use quite regularly and find this a great feature. Most printers will now come with an LCD screen so you can edit the photographs before printing them out.
We now also see most come with a memory card readers so you can print directly from the memory card in your digital camera, cell phone or other media device. The great thing about this is it can also be done without the use of a computer. We're starting to see wireless printers hitting the market nowadays also in the use will allow you connect directly from your computer using the 802.11 wireless standard.
Before you decide to to purchase and a photographic printer you need to make sure that you do your research before hand. This is a changing market and models and pricing change quickly. Also be aware that although the printer may seem cheap when you go to purchase you need to also consider the costs of printed ink and paper as you sometimes find certain manufacturers will reduce the price of the printers knowing that they will make it on the printer cartridges and paper moving forward.
